Illume Consulting Inc., founded in June 2020, is a lighting design and Project management consultancy firm based in GTA, ON, Canada. Illume specializes in diverse project types. Though founded in 2020, the leadership and the team has 25+ years of professional service experience both internationally and in Canada. Illume team has delivered projects of varied complexity/ scope and has a proven and dependable track record of completing projects on time and within budget.
Samina Mehar
Founder and Principal
Samina Mehar, BASc. Electrical Engineering, MASc. Sustainable Building Sciences, PMP, LEED AP BD+C, LC is Founder and principal of Illume Consulting Inc., Samina’s decision to start her own firm was based on a deep commitment to fully integrate best practices in illumination, project management and related education at more affordable cost to businesses and individuals during these trying economic times of COVID 19.
Prior to establishing the firm, Samina has over twenty years of combined Municipal Government as well as Private Sector Project Management experience providing expert oversight to ensure projects are on-time and on-budget. She is experienced in leading multi-disciplinary project teams for large projects of diverse scope.
Samina has effectively applied project management methodologies and implemented project strategies by researching, analyzing, and evaluating existing methods, procedure and protocols to ensure overall business needs are addressed in design-build projects. Over the past ten years she has established herself as a specialist for LED Conversion Projects for both interior and exterior spaces including roadway lighting. In the course of her career, Samina has met the challenges of a range of commercial, institutional, and residential projects, and has developed a complete understanding of building types, architectural styles and uses of space. Her project portfolio includes educational buildings, gymnasiums, office spaces, residential spaces, landscape and roadway lighting.
Raised in Asia, her well travelled diverse artistic background includes design experience in interior design and textile design. Outside of her professional scope, she is a talented designer of custom jewelry. Her innate creativity and technical ability have contributed to Illume’s projects in the educational, commercial, and residential fields. She is an avid learner as well as instructor of lighting design, project management and sustainability courses at various forums during her professional career.
Samina is a professional member of the International Association of Lighting Designers (IALD) and a member of the Illuminating Engineering Society (MIES), Green Building Council (CAGBC). Samina’s broad project experience allows her to listen and understand the goals and concerns of our clients, fostering strong working relationships with leaders, internal and external clients, partners and stakeholders to establish and meet corporate objectives. She is a key player in her professional capacity as a person with excellent customer service and interpersonal skills. She has developed and promoted numerous successful cross-sector partnerships and new green initiatives in various capacities.

Soha Arshad
3D Architect & Designer
Soha specializes in Interior Architecture/Design, Design Psychology, Space Planning & 3D Rendering. She is an advocate for sustainable design and believes in creating spaces that have a positive impact on both the environment and its occupants.
At the Academy of Art University, she developed strong skills in the rendering of spaces through hand-drawn sketches, Procreate, Photoshop, Illustrator and Revit. As a student, she worked on various commercial and residential spaces which focused on providing a complete set of construction documents, including specification sheets and realistic renderings to showcase materials.
Aside from being an integral part of the future of our firm, Soha has previously worked as a teacher and as a part-time counselor for children. She is also part of the Youth Wing at Ini-she-ative Canada, an organization that provides support to women, children and families. Some of her other experiences include social media management, marketing and being part of the core team for a political campaign.
At Illume, Soha shares the same values of the company, which highlights the importance of green and sustainable design. As our co-consultant, designer and 3D render artist, she brings a fresh set of skills that will help provide clients with a clearer visual perspective of the desired space.
